3C2A Baseball Northern California Regional Playoffs Resume Sunday
Pittsburg, Calif.: Los Medanos College Mustangs are galloping on to post-season baseball as the 2024
Bay Valley Conference Champions and hosting the 3C2A Baseball Northern California
Regional Playoffs against Cañada College.
The first game of the series will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the LMC baseball field, 2700 E. Leland Road. The second game is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, which could go into a double header if a third game is needed to determine the series winner.
LMC Mustangs (No. 6) head into the series boasting a 12-2 record in conference play, and an impressive 30-9 overall record. Cañada College Colts (No. 19) ended their conference play with an 11-9 record in the Coast Conference North Division, and a 23-17 overall record. The victor moves on to Norther California Super Regional Playoffs scheduled to start May 9.
“We’ve wrapped up a very successful conference season with an impressive 18-game winning streak to finish the regular season,” LMC Athletic Director Marty Storti said. “That’s the most conference wins we’ve had in at least the past five years.”
Storti praised Harmen Sidhu, the team’s new head coach who joined LMC this season after serving as associate head coach with Diablo Valley College.
“He is new to LMC and has done an outstanding job of leading this team, making sure players are focused as much on their academic as on their athletic achievements,” Storti said. He added that each of the players throughout the season has shown tremendous determination and focus to push past conference play into the post season.
“These players have exhausting schedules,” he said. “They are juggling academics and athletics, and many of them work. They put a lot of effort into everything they do, and they represent the best of Los Medanos College.”
