University Tours
University tours give students an opportunity to become familiar with a variety of 4-year institutions and what each has to offer in terms of academics and student life. Transportation is provided and unless otherwise stated, it's FREE!
How to
Up:To sign up, click the registration link for the university you would like to visit. You must complete the entire online form in order to register for the event.
Tours are typically an entire day, and include lunch, a campus tour, and admissions presentation. If there is an additional presentation, like a tour for a specific major, it's noted in the description.
Once you register for a tour, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your seat. If you don't confirm your seat then your spot will be given to another student on our waitlist. Only once you confirm your seat are you officially registered for the tour. If you confirm for a tour and do not show up on the day of, you will NOT be able to register for another tour this term.
Spring 2025 HBCU Tour Application
Now in its 9th year, LMC's HBCU tour is an opportunity for our students to travel to states across the country to spend time at Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other historical and cultural sites, and immerse themselves in campus life and culture. HBCUs will be offering on-the-spot admissions and scholarship support, along with admissions presentations, on campus activities, and other great events. Thanks to SEA funding, this entire trip (airfare, hotel, transportation, and food costs) is completely FREE for our students.
Students should know the following in preparation for their application:
- The application includes a 400-600 word essay in response to the question, "Please tell us why you are interested in participating in Los Medanos College's 2025 HBCU tour. Include how you have prepared to attend an HBCU, and what you hope to gain from the experience.
If selected for the tour cohort, the student must be able to provide the following to tour providers:
- Valid identification for flying purposes (driver's license, state ID, or passport)
- Proof of medical insurance
- If a student is in their first semester at LMC, they will be required to upload a letter of recommendation from a current professor
- Participants will be expected to attend four in-person Preparation Meetings prior
to the tour. Dates and times are:
- February 21st, 10:00am-12:00pm
- February 28th, 10:00am-12:00pm
- March 7th, 10:00am-12:00pm
- March 14th, 10:00am-12:00pm

2024-2025 University Tour Schedule:
Steps to reserve your spot on a university tour:
- Complete a registration form for the ONE campus that you would like to visit this semester. Students may only attend one tour each semester to allow all students a chance to attend.
- Watch for an email from our office asking you to confirm your spot on the bus. This typically is sent two weeks before the tour date.
- Reply to the confirmation email by the deadline given. Failure to due so will mean that your seat will be given to someone on our waitlist.
- Show up on time for your tour. You will be given a time and location to meet your tour group. If you are late the bus will leave without you.
- If you are on the waitlist, you should hear from us about one week before the tour to let you know whether or not there is a space for you on the bus.
